The international conference about freshwater mussels from 26th-28th April 2023 in Selbitz, Germany was a great success. Experts from 14 countries had met to discuss present challenges and solutions related to freshwater mussel conservation against the background of climate change and target species conflicts in our constricted cultural landscapes. In addition to numerous presentations and active exchange of information during the first two days, an exciting excursion to the breeding station "Huschermühle" followed on the final day. Another highlight was presented already at the beginning of the event: German environmental minister Steffi Lemke had sent an opening message addressed to all participants freshwater mussel conservationists.
